Calling Upon Congress to Crush Second Amendment Freedoms
2023 - California Assembly
Vote Description

This resolution calls on Congress to call a constitutional convention such that it may create an amendment to the Constitution that gives municipalities and states the ability to create firearms regulations. The amendment would also require that background checks be conducted on all who purchase a gun, that the minimum age to purchase a gun be raised to 21, that there be established a minimum waiting period for all gun purchases, and that all "assault weapons" be banned. CPAC supports the founders' belief in the Second Amendment and opposed this resolution. The Assembly passed this resolution on September 14, 2023 by a vote of 53-17.
