This bill increases the list of reasons an employee may have in order to qualify for sick leave. For example, an employee may now take time off merely because of an abstract “need to grieve.” CPAC believes that employees should work out their benefits with employers without government interference and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on April 24, 2023 by a vote of 23-11 and the bill later became law.
