Vote Description
This bill makes it such that the commissioner of education must now be subject to Senate confirmation. It also amends current law to require that the commissioner be subject to annual reviews and to prevent the commissioner from garnering a contract longer than 4 years. CPAC supports efforts to improve legislative oversight over key bureaucracies and supported this bill. The House overrode Governor Beshear’s veto of this bill on March 29, 2023 by a vote of 78-19 and the bill later became law.
