SB 542
Allowing for the Imposition of Price Controls During Emergencies.
2023 - Maryland Senate
Vote Description

This bill prohibits vendors from selling a good or service during a government-declared emergency at a rate 15% above the rate charged for the good or service before the “emergency.” CPAC recognizes that price controls lead to shortages and black markets, opposes this infringement on property rights, and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 17, 2023 by a vote of 36-9 and the bill later became law.
