HB 8
Channeling Taxpayer Resources into Arts and Crafts.
2023 - New Mexico Senate
Vote Description
This bill establishes a Creative Industries Division in New Mexico’s Economic Development Department. This division will promote New Mexico’s creative industries, support small businesses associated with creative industries, and support workforce training initiatives to help uplift creative industries. The bill also sets up a creative industries fund to provide grants to support creative industries and appropriates $65,000,000 to this endeavor. CPAC does not believe that taxpayers should be forced to pay for “creative” ventures of this nature and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on March 14, 2023 by a vote of 30-2 and the bill later became law.
