This bill requires health insurers to cover the costs of “gender-affirming care” and abortions. It also prohibits medical licensing boards from taking adverse action against physicians for participating in abortion procedures or gender-affirming care. The bill additionally attacks the First Amendment freedoms of pregnancy centers by penalizing them for releasing advertisements that the state deems “deceptive.” CPAC believes abortion is always a human tragedy, opposes the socialization of the costs of radical gender surgeries, opposes the Left’s war on First Amendment freedoms, and opposed this bill. The House passed this bill on April 21, 2023 by a vote of 114-24 and the bill later became law.
