Miami-Dade Transforms into Conservative Stronghold

President Trump won a significant victory in the historically Democrat Miami-Dade County today. At the same time, two controversial amendments that would have loosened restrictions on abortion and marijuana also failed in the county. The victories for conservative causes are the cherry on top of a rightward movement of the county over the last few years.

Mercedes Schlapp commented on the shift on Newsmax on election night, "Harris and Democrats were counting on many of these voters, especially women voters, to basically support that amendment for, they call it, the right to abortion."

Miami-Dade County is just one piece of the entire state of Florida's shift farther to the right. Schlapp credited Governor Ron DeSantis with encouraging this drastic shift in recent years, "You've seen the shift in Florida towards the Republican side, and you got to give credit to Governor Ron DeSantis and his team as well in being able to build up that infrastructure and register voters."
