CPAC Statement on the Assassination of Former Prime Minister Abe
Alexandria, VA — CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp released the following statement following the assassination of Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe:
It is a tragic day for Japan and for people around the world who care about freedom. Prime Minister Abe was a true champion of individual liberty and a strong protector of his country’s national sovereignty. At a time when there is a dearth of freedom-loving political leaders, it is important to remember the important relationship he forged with President Trump and his steadfast voice for free societies. We always appreciated his Administration’s support of CPAC Japan and the many representatives of his party who worked with us. We were allies in the battle against the greatest threat in Asia and the rest of the world: the Chinese Communist Party and its lethal forces. While today is a day of mourning, his great leadership will continue to serve as an inspiration for all of us who fight against communism and for freedom.
